Black and White Experiments

With the Broncos/Seahawks game over (in a fashion far less embarrassing than the Super Bowl), I turned my attention to Flickr and Adobe Photoshop’s surprising black and white photo features.

I’ve never really messed with black and white before, and thought I’d give it a shot with one of my favorite photos of all time. The original is an incredible sunset after a parting storm in Cherry Creek State Park, located between Aurora and Denver.

I pulled the photo into Photoshop, opened the black and white menu, and began to tweak. I checked both ends of the spectrum on each, and was shocked to see the result. Who knew a photo in black-and-white would be just as incredible? Additionally, I messed with selective blur to add more motion to the photograph.

Just goes to show you, no matter how much you think you know about image manipulation…odds are you don’t know the half of it.

Also, I plan on working a lot more with colorless media.
